A graduate of the Middlesex School of Management in London, England, Ashu Bhandari founded and operates the Caribbean islands-based business advisement firm Ashu Bhandari Consulting. When he is free from his commitments to local entrepreneurs, Ashu Bhandari enjoys navigating the Caribbean waters in his boat, a Jeanneau Prestige 46 Flybridge named Khush.
Designed by Vittorio Garron for the Les Herbiers, France-based shipyard Jeanneau, the Prestige 46 Flybridge motor yacht measures nearly 48 feet long with a width just over 14 feet. Equipped with twin 500-horsepower Cummins diesel engines, the ship travels at a cruising speed of 26 knots and a top speed of 30 knots. Featuring a deep-V reinforced fiberglass hull with 21 degrees of deadrise, the Prestige 46 provides smooth performance even in rough waters.
The ship can be piloted from either the upper, exposed fly bridge or the interior, deck-level cockpit, and the dash panel’s ergonomically designed controls provide ease of operation for the pilot. Seating capacity on the fly bridge allows guests to join the navigator in the topside open air. From the interior helm, the span and positioning of the windows maintain wide visibility while the enclosure effectively dampens engine noise. With a double bench seat at the controls and a dinette booth just to port, the seating arrangement of the cockpit allows the pilot to enjoy the company of shipmates while navigating.
The commodious saloon and galley area highlight the ship’s varnished mahogany paneled interior, quality hardware, and plush seating. To facilitate interaction between the galley and saloon, the galley is dropped down a single step from the saloon, placing the cook at eye level with guests seated at the dinette.
Three staterooms below the foredeck offer ample accommodations for up to six travelers. Forward of the other two cabins, the master stateroom features a centerline queen bunk with mattress battens and a private head and shower. A second lavatory is shared by guests occupying the two other staterooms, the starboard cabin furnished with a queen mattress, and the portside with two twin bunks.
